PHLEBOTOMY TECH

Phlebotomy is an essential part of the healthcare process. Specimen collection, processing, and testing will aid in disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment monitoring. The phlebotomist represents the laboratory team and must display a professional demeanor and appropriate communication skills. 

 

​This course aims to provide the necessary background in both the theory of phlebotomy and the laboratory skills necessary to work in the field. The students will take away a comprehension of the anatomy of specimen collection, the correlation between test request and the corresponding tube, and a knowledge of pre-examination variables that may affect the quality of the specimen. Upon completion, the student should feel confident in meeting the goals of this course and be closer to testing for their certification. After completing your course hours, you will enter an externship at a clinic or lab to complete 50 hours of externship.  Once the student has completed the course and externship you will receive a certificate of completion and qualify to take the Phlebotomy Certification.​

 

SF Career Training assists students in seeking employment in their field.  The Program Coordinator helps with resumes, interview tips, and job searching.  Also, graduates have the option to find jobs with a Medical Professional Staffing or employment agency specializing in the placement of medical staff in healthcare facilities, including physicians' offices, clinics, and hospitals.  Job placement is not guaranteed; however, at PTS, we'll put forward our best effort to help graduates find employment.  ​
